IPAF Harness Training
Get the right training and become certified to inspect harnesses and lanyards with our Harness Awareness (HA) Training Course, Harness User (HU) Training Course and Harness Inspector (HI) Training Course.
To be trained as a competent person (in IPAF terms) for the inspection of harnesses and lanyards, one must first complete and pass both the HA and HU courses. Once you have passed both of these courses, you can proceed to the HI course.
The purpose of the Harness Awareness (HA) course:
This course provides the necessary knowledge to select and manage as well as
plan the correct use of harnesses and lanyards in connection
with the use of a MEWP (Mobile Elevating Work Platform) / Lift.
Further training is required to use a harness in a lift in the form of Harness User Training, and additionally, further training is required to perform periodic statutory inspections of harnesses and lanyards for use in a lift in the form of the Harness Inspector course (HI) and assessment.
This Harness Awareness (HA) course is a prerequisite for the IPAF Harness User training, which in itself is a prerequisite for the Harness Inspector training.
The purpose of the Harness Inspector (HI) course:
The HI course provides you with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to conduct mandatory inspections of harnesses, lanyards, and related equipment for use in a lift.
Upon completion of the courses, participants will have learned the following:
- To have knowledge of how to correctly identify and select the appropriate form of personal fall protection from a lift.
- To have theoretical knowledge of how to carry out pre-use checks, user checks, maintain, and store harnesses and lanyards in accordance with legislation and the manufacturer's instructions.
- To have theoretical knowledge and practical experience of how harnesses and lanyards should be installed and adjusted.
- To demonstrate how to carry out periodic and temporary inspections of harnesses and lanyards for use in a lift.
- To demonstrate how to maintain associated records of inspections of harnesses and lanyards.
If you wish to be certified as competent persons for the inspection of harnesses and lanyards and certified MEWP operators, you can take the courses with us so that HA eLearning and IPAF Operator eLearning are completed before the practical part of the IPAF MEWP Operator course (half a day) and followed by the HI course (half a day).
This can also be done in 1 day with us.
