IPAF 3A Lift Course

The IPAF 3A course provides participants with theoretical and practical training in the use of mobile vertical lifts – scissor lifts and column lifts.

These machines are driven into the work area and can lift the platform up to height without the use of stabilisers. These machines can also be operated while being delivered.

At the end of the course, the participant will have achieved the following:

• Introduction to the specific machine – overview and familiarity with the machine.
• Basic components – identification of any component and its function.
• Pre-use check and inspection – complete all necessary checks/inspections on the following parts: tyres, chassis, turntable, fluid levels, hoses, electrical cables, boom, platform basket, brakes, steering, lights, driving, controls, (lowering/lifting), pins/retaining bolts and decals and other points from the machine's user manual.
• Starting and stopping the machine – correct start and stop procedures.
• Pre-use functional check – Complete functional check of the machine and perform full emergency lowering procedure.

The IPAF courses consist of a two-part test. The two-part test involves a theoretical and a practical test, both of which must be passed.

After completing the course, you will receive a course certificate, a PAL card (Powered Access License), a logbook, and a safety guide in the IPAF ePAL app. An IPAF certificate is valid for 5 years and is internationally recognised as documentation of competence in the safe operation of lifts.
